Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy of Adoption as a Team Effort for the Child’s Best Interest

An adoption finalization is an exciting event celebrating love, commitment, pride, and perseverance.

Like a wedding- we see tears of joy, smiles and laughter. It is the last step in the adoption process which starts with the decision of the adopting parent to love and provide for a child.

The decision is then followed by lots of paperwork, record checks, references, notices, physical exams, a home assessment and waiting. An adoption cannot be finalized until the child has resided with the Petitioner/Prospective adoptive parent(s) for six months. During those six months, the family, through daily interaction and time together, form bonds that are celebrated on adoption finalization day.  The adoption affirms the family in fact which exists.

If you are ready to take an adoption journey, my office and I stand ready to function as your guide. I practice mostly in central Ohio but am licensed throughout the state.

We handle a variety of different types of adoptions- private, stepparent, relative, custodian, legal guardian, private placement, public agency, special needs, adult, international, disrupted, contested, and interstate adoptions. We also handle surrogacy and artificial reproductive assistance representation. In addition, we also offer consultations on post-adoptive financial assistance.

We can connect you to allied professionals to aid with your adoption related issues.

At our firm, we are compassionate with and aid families facing adoption disruptions and second home adoptions. Unfortunately, this has become a more frequent occurrence in recent years.

Over the last 40 years of adoption practice, we have had the opportunity to work in almost all phases of adoption- yet we recognize that each family and case is unique in their own way. We continue to be active in continuing legal education both as participants and speakers/coordinators. Adoption law is always changing and evolving with modern times and our practice is on the forefront of that process.

An Attorney Who Views Her Role as an Educator, Facilitator, and Advisor

Adoption, in addition to being a legal process, is a major life decision having personal and social ramifications. For this reason, clients are encouraged to utilize available counseling and support group resources. As an adoption professional, Attorney Eisenman views her role as that of an educator, facilitator, and advisor rather than a surrogate decision maker. Her office works with clients from a wide range of personal, ethnic, educational, financial, and religious backgrounds.
